Congo Nile Trail
The Congo Nile Trail is a trail along Lake Kivu that extends from Rubavu, continues through Rutsiro via the Karongi, Nyamasheke districts and ends at Rusizi District. 227 km(141miles) of beautiful landscapes, including rolling hills and clear water.
The entire trek can be completed in a 10-day hike. However, the trip can be done in sections if travellers do not have the time to complete the entire trail . Trails give stunning views of Lake Kivu coastline and offer adventurous travellers an exciting way to discover Rwanda.
Upon your arrival, you will be welcomed by your driver guide who will drive you to the hotel for lunch before we head out for a city tour at the genocide memorial and the local market and later transfer to Kibuye for dinner and overnight. Inzu lodge
Early in the morning, after breakfast, you will be driven to the starting point with your hiking luggage essentials. You will need to pack a lot of snacks and lots of drinking water. You will start off your biking adventure from Kibuye to Kinunu village with beautiful views of Lake Kivu and the local communities going on with their everyday life.
And the tea plantations covering the hills, you can stop and take some pictures of the beautiful landscape. Overnight will be in Kinunu guest house.
Early morning after breakfast, we shall have a bike ride around Lake Kivu, you will visit the fishing village and see how the fishermen go on with their job, interact with them and also visit the hot springs, and later retire at the lodge. Bethaine Guest House.
Early in the morning, after having breakfast, you will then head for a boat safari and a view of the lake, and the also enjoy the breeze from the fresh water lake. You will visit Napoleon Island, named after Napoleon’s hat shape, which is home to a colony of bats. After the island visit, you will return to the lodge for lunch, relax a bit, then hit the road for Kigali.
