Nyungwe National Park is located in the southwest corner of Rwanda. Nyungwe Forest National Park is a vast, untouched tropical rainforest with a high, dense canopy. It is more known for the chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk.
The chimpanzee trekking is so different from the mountain gorilla experience; unlike the mountain gorillas, the chimps are moving constantly around and at high speeds, jumping from tree to tree, making noise. You will get to observe them so closely, going about their own lives and see the human-like features and behaviour that make them our closest relatives with 98.7% DNA.
The actual trek starts at 5:00 am & 7:00 am; therefore, you should be at the park headquarters for the briefing by 4:00 am. You will be picked up by your driver/guide in the afternoon from your home/hotel and then transferred to Nyungwe National Park.
As you drive to Nyungwe, you will see and enjoy the beautiful landscape of Rwanda. You will have an overnight in Nyungwe in order to get up early for the chimpanzee trekking. accommodation at your choice of hotel or lodge.
