Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is located in the south western part of Uganda in Kisoro district, just close to the border of Rwanda, approximately 30 km.
Late in the afternoon after having your lunch, your driver guide will pick you up and you transfer to Uganda for Mgahinga national park through the boarder of Cyanika (2hr 34mins) drive to the border.
Upon arrival at the border, we shall register with the immigration office for (15mins) and then proceed to your Hotel Lake Mulehe safari lodge for overnight and dinner (1hour drive)
Early in the morning, you will wake up for a beautiful breakfast and head out with your packed lunch later on you will be driven to the starting point around 30 mins drive, it’s from here that you will get a short briefing about the short hike that will lead you to the’ Muhavura base camp’ for a briefing with your two guides who will lead you to the gorilla family that you will be visiting. The gorilla trekking briefing start 08:00 am Ugandan time.
The trek takes 1 to 7 hours including the 1 hour that you are given to be in the presence of the gorillas. Although this time is unpredictable, sometimes you might take short or long time trekking depending on the location of the gorillas. After the trekking we shall drive back to Kigali with an optional stopover to buy some snacks if you would like. Driving back to Kigali will take us 4 hours to reach Kigali and be transferred to your hotel.
