The Masai Mara covers an area of 1,800 square kilometers and is probably one of the most famous reserves in Africa. It is named after the Maasai people the traditional inhabitants of the area and their description of the area. The most famous act played out annually is the Great Migration, which sees up to two million wildebeest undertake a journey of roughly 1,600 kilometers from the Serengeti every year from July to October.
