The word Serengeti means endless plain in the Maasai language. The park is situated in northern Tanzania, also known for the annual massive migration of the wildebeest and zebras seeking for new pasture. The herds move north from their breeding grounds in the grassy southern plains. Many cross the marshy, crocodile-infested Grumeti River. But apart from the wildebeests, there are several animals that can be found in the Serengeti, like the big 5 ie; elephants, lions, rhinos, leopards, buffaloes. These are called the big five because they are the hardest animals to be killed by hunters, and also, you will get a chance to see all the wild animals that you only get to see on TV up close to you.
